They did it again! In La Rochelle, Yann Auradou and Mathis Dupont-Brimbeuf created a surprise by beating the number 3 seed, De Meyer / Mena in the round of XNUMX. In a highly charged atmosphere at the Impact Stadium, the two players showed steely mentality, saving several match points before turning the game around.
Yann Auradou, Mathis Dupont-Brimbeuf, how do you feel after this victory? How many match points did you save? One or two?
Yann: I think two. Listen, we are tired, but the victory makes us forget a little bit about this fatigue. Losing would have been even harder. I am really happy with the level of play of Mathis, from my partner, and I think I had a good match too.
Victor helped us a lot in the first set, and we believed in it more and more. We let up a bit at the end of the second, but Victor and Dorian clearly raised their level of play. As for the third set, I still don't understand it... We lost 5-3, 40-15. Honestly, in my head, I was thinking: "If we lose, we will still have played a good match." But we were able to come back and win. 7-5, it's incredible.
Mathis, how did you feel during this match?
Mathis: Honestly, not much pressure. Here, the atmosphere is crazy, everyone is for us, we really feel at home. There are things that can't be explained... The par 3s, if I manage one per season, that's already a lot, but there, I multiplied it by ten in one match!
I was telling Yann that, even when we are behind, here, we have the impression that we cannot lose. Already, during the final of the P1000 Against Ludo Cancel and Alexis Coulombeau, we saved match points to finally win 7-6 in the third set. Today is even better: we won before the tie-break, it's still more comfortable. The sensations are incredible, and I can't wait to play again.
