The Big Padel Bordeaux stood out during the 2025 French Interclub Championships by reaching the final, a great performance with a team largely made up of players from the Jet Academy, the training center created in 2020 by Jean-Thomas Peyrou.
While the other favourite teams had several Spanish international players in their ranks, for example Aitor Garcia (104th), Mario Ortega (92nd), Carlos Marti (63rd) et Miguel Solbes (78th) for Sète Padel Club or even Teo Zapata (35th), Miguel Semmler (ex-world top 70) and Mario Huete (88th) for Casa Padel, the Big Padel has bet on local training.
Training at the heart of success
Among the players present, Thomas Vanbauce, Dorian DeMeyer, Maxime Jorris et Nicolas Rouanet have all been trained in the Jet AcademyThis center, which has become a reference in the Bordeaux region, today attracts players from outside, such as Simon Wagner, who now trains alongside Vanbauce, his current partner. Benjamin Crane, another player from the academy, was also very valuable on the team bench.
To complete this locally formed core, the Big Padel called on two foreign reinforcements: the Belgian Clément Geens (95th in the world) and the Spanish Luis Hernandez Quesada (46th in the world)This combination of international experience and players from the Jet Academy has made it possible to build a competitive and homogeneous team.
Remarkable individual performances
The course of Maxime Joris was particularly impressive. Alongside Quesada, he beat top players like Teodor Zapata (35th in the world) et Miguel Semmler. Joris also delivered a great performance in the final against Martí and Ortega, despite the defeat.
Nicolas Rouanet, he too, made an impression by adapting to the demands of big matches. His performance in the final against Aitor Garcia and Miguel Angel Solbes showed that he could compete with more experienced players.
Finally, the pair Thomas Vanbauce and Simon Wagner was flawless throughout the tournament. Together, they did not lose a single match, bringing decisive points to their team in each encounter.
An impressive journey to the final
The Big Padel had a near-perfect tournament, not conceding a single match until the final. In the quarter-finals, they won against La Bandeja, thanks in particular to the victory of Jorris and Quesada (7/6 2/6 7/5) facing Roger Arumi et Guillem Figuerola, and the authoritarian success of Vanbauce and Wagner (6/3 6/2) against Maxime Forcin et Benjamin Duffour.
In the semi-final, the Bordeaux club had the luxury of eliminating the reigning champion, Home Padel, yet led by renowned players like Teodor Zapata (35th in the world) et Miguel Semmler (former world top 70). Joris and Quesada delivered a top-flight performance to win 6/2 7/6 against Zapata and Semmler, while Vanbauce and Wagner, imperial throughout the tournament, dominated Derek Gerson et Laurent Montoisy on the score of 6/3 6/2.
In the final, the Big Padel faced the Sète Padel Club, which lined up a team made up of Spanish international players such as Carlos Marti (63rd) et Mario Ortega (92nd). Vanbauce and Wagner started the match in the best possible way by beating Quentin Ayuso et Loïc The Panse (7/5 6/2), one of the only matches where Big Padel were favorites. But in the second match, Geens and Rouanet fought a big battle against Aitor Garcia Bassas et Miguel Angel Solbes, before losing narrowly (7/6 7/6). The last decisive match pitted Jorris and Quesada à Martí and Ortega. After a difficult first set (6/2), Jorris woke up and dominated the second set (6/1). Unfortunately, a break in the third set allowed Sète to win the match (6/4), leaving Big Padel one set away from the title.
A success for the future
Despite this defeat in the final, the Big Padel can be proud of his journey. To have come this far with a majority of players trained at the club is a real success. After a 3rd place in 2023 and a 4th in 2024, this 2nd place in 2025 shows constant progress and suggests great things for 2026. With this dynamic, the Big Padel could well aim for the title as early as next year.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
