Le Newgiza P2 2026 , scheduled from 13 to 18 April This tournament is already shaping up to be a pivotal one in the early stages of the season. And even before the first rally, a trend is emerging very clearly: The men's scene is going to change a lot .
Between the absence of Coello / Tapia , many changes of partners and a hierarchy that could be somewhat reshuffled, the Egyptian stage arrives with quite a few stakes.
Coello and Tapia absent, Galán and Chingotto are the number 1 seeds
This is obviously the most significant piece of information: Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia will not play in the Newgiza P2 .
Their absence immediately changes how the table is interpreted. Without the world number ones, it is therefore Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto who will leave with the status of seeded 1 .
In a context where they are coming off a victory at Miami P1 Their position becomes even more interesting. Without Coello / Tapia They logically appear as the overwhelming favorites in the tournament.
Last tournament for Tello and Edu Alonso
Another important point: Newgiza will be the last tournament for Juan Tello and Edu Alonso together. .
The separation has not yet been formally announced by the players, but it is now largely a reality, since Juan Tello and Maxi Arce are already registered together for the Brussels P2 .
The Egyptian tournament will therefore serve as last appointment for this pair before a much-anticipated change.
Several new associations in the men's draw
And this is not the only movement to follow.
Among the new pairs already announced or visible in the listings, we will also find:
- Javi Barahona / Gonzalo G. Alfonso
- José Jiménez / Javier Garcia
- Sanyo Gutierrez / Victor Ruiz
- Íñigo Jofre / David Gala
- José Antonio García Diestro / Maxi Sánchez Blasco
- Álvaro Cepero / Pablo García Rodrigo
In other words, The middle section of the men's table will clearly be redesigned. in Newgiza.
And as is often the case in this kind of period, these changes can quickly reshuffle the cards in the early rounds, with pairs still finding their feet but potentially very dangerous.
In women, much more stability
Conversely, the female painting arrives with far fewer movements.
All the main pairs involved are present, including the number 1s, Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea who will definitely be involved.
At this point, the First 19 pairs remain unchanged, with only one wild card still to be allocated in the final table.
A tournament that could mean more than just a P2
On paper, it's Newgiza is “only one” P2 But in reality, this tournament could have far more weight than its mere status.
Because it happens:
- right after the American tour,
- in a moment of uncertainty in the calendar,
- with several pairs in transition,
- and especially with a major absence at the very top of the men's rankings .
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
