While everything seemed to indicate that the Premier Padel P1 scheduled in Spain from April 28 to May 4 was going to be canceled or postponed, the trend is reversing. According to the latest information from SPORTS, the tournament could indeed be maintained on its initial dates. A final decision is awaited in the next 48 hours.
A project relaunched at the last minute
Just two weeks ago, the most likely scenarios suggested either a report, be one pure and simple cancellation of the tournament. Today, Premier Padel work hard with a Spanish city whose identity remains confidential, to save the event. According to the organizers, “Everything is ready, just press a button to start the machine”.
The only major constraint would be the ticket sales in such a short time, but this point does not seem to be a problem: In Spain, demand often exceeds supply as soon as a tournament of Premier Padel is announced.
Abandoned tracks: Valencia and Seville out of the race
Among the serious avenues initially studied:
- Valencia was quickly ruled out due to economic and urban planning complications, particularly after Storm DANA.
- Seville seemed a credible alternative, but the La Cartuja stadium is currently under construction to host the Copa del Rey football final on April 26.
Cities like Bilbao, Vigo, Zaragoza, the Balearic Islands and Gran Canaria were also considered, without any being able to accommodate the event within the given timeframe.
Why this tournament is crucial for Premier Padel
Cancelling the tournament permanently would be detrimental to the image of the circuit, already weakened by the open conflict with playersMaintaining this tournament in Spain, the heart of world padel, therefore remains a priority.
The option of a report remains possible but complicated:
- A free week in July August (between July 28 and August 3), initially reserved for a tournament in Scandinavia which does not yet have an assigned city.
- Or one of the two weeks granted to Germany (September 15-21 or September 22-28), depending on the date chosen by the German organizers.
- Finally, the window between October 13 and 26 remains available, but it could be used for other FIP competitions.
A race against time
À less than three weeks from the supposed kick-off of the tournament, the teams of Premier Padel working to reach a solution. Holding this tournament on time would be a real logistical feat, but a strong signal in a tense context for professional padel.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
