Alors que le official calendar of Premier Padel 2025 announced a tournament of category P1 in Spain from 28 April to 4 May, uncertainty now hangs over whether this event will take place. No official confirmation has not been made to date, to a just over a month of the scheduled date. And everything suggests that a change of dates, even a pure and simple cancellation is now considered.

An organization at an impasse

No final decision has been made yet, but the situation is looking very complicatedNegotiations are still underway to try to maintain the competition, but the chances of saving this stage under the current conditions are slim.

The solution that seems to hold the rope would be to postpone the test to another date, while waiting to find a more favorable window in the calendar. But time is running out: no host city has yet been announced, which seriously complicates ticket sales and logistical organization.

Options considered… and quickly dismissed

Last season, it was Seville which had hosted this stage, with great success La Cartuja Stadium. But the stadium is currently in renovations, scheduled to end just before the King's Cup final football, which will be held on 26th AprilThis timing makes holding a padel tournament totally inviable at this location.

Other city considered: Valencia, but the damage caused by DANA (severe weather) on local infrastructure forced the organizers to discard this option also.

The company Octagon, promoter of the tournament, continues to search a fallback solution in other Spanish cities. But as the days go by, the more deadlines are getting tight to ensure a tournament that meets the standards of Premier Padel.

A Spanish calendar already very busy

This potential postponement or cancellation would disrupt an already busy Spanish calendar, with six tournaments planned this season :

  • Gijón (played without the best players in the world due to the boycott)
  • Málaga (July)
  • Valladolid (end of June)
  • Madrid (early September)
  • Barcelona, which will host the Premier Padel Finals
  • And this famous P1 from the end of April, for the moment outstanding

The The next few days will be decisive to know the fate reserved for this stage. A official announcement is expected very soon.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
