Long reserved for sports holidays and training courses between enthusiasts, the padel in Spain is now becoming an increasingly integrated activity in the segment MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions). Thanks to its accessibility, its friendly atmosphere and the growth of its infrastructure, it attracts companies from all over the world who choose Spain to combine seminars, team building and sporting discovery.
NAC Marbella: 300 groups per year and a local economic engine
In Marbella, the club NAC perfectly illustrates this trend. According to its director Guillermo Del Grosso, the establishment receives nearly 300 groups per year, in partnership with more than 120 agenciesSome of this clientele is directly linked to MICE: seminars, management committees or even incentive trips.
"The fact that the club organizes activities ten months out of twelve boosts the entire local economy. We collaborate with hotels, restaurants, and luxury apartments to create complete packages. This benefits the entire regional commercial fabric." he explains. The main markets identified are France, Morocco, the Middle East, but also Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Higuerón Resort: international seminars and premium padel
Le Higueron Resort, located on the Costa del Sol, also places padel at the heart of its MICE offering. Antonio Chaves precise :
"We are highly specialized in this segment. With our 292 rooms, we can host international conventions. Last year, for example, the shoe company Plux brought together 250 people for a week. They were able to combine fitness, padel, and all our sports activities."
This ability to host international events positions Spain as an attractive alternative to other, more traditional MICE destinations.
La Toupie Bleue : a strategic axis in recovery
For Rémi Collat (La Toupie Bleue), the MICE represented 15 to 20% of activity before the pandemic. Although project validations have taken longer since Covid, the operator is still banking on this segment, particularly on the Costa Daurada and southern Spain:
“Going on a business seminar and enjoying quality sports facilities is an ideal compromise for creating cohesion and progressing in padel.”
X3Padel : Madrid, capital of padel seminars
To Madrid, Stéphane Rodriguez (X3Padel) notes a real enthusiasm among businesses:
"We organize 3- to 4-day events where employees get together 24/24 around padel. It's a sport accessible to all levels, which allows everyone to have fun and bond. For companies, it's a fantastic team-building tool."
A growing MICE market and a lever for Spain
Spain is already a global tourism giant, with 94 million international visitors in 2024 (Turespaña). The integration of padel into MICE offers represents a new strategic dimension :
- Solid infrastructure : 17,000 courts, 4,500 clubs, a favorable climate.
- A complementary offer : high-end resorts, gastronomy, cultural tourism.
- A unifying sport : accessible, fun and a vector of cohesion.
From Marbella to Madrid, via the Costa del Sol and the Costa Daurada, Spain today offers tailor-made seminars around padel, strengthening its attractiveness on the international business tourism market.
