Le paddle has been experiencing spectacular growth on a global scale in recent years. In the space of five years, the number of countries where padel is played has triple, passing more than 50 to more than 140. And this momentum continues unabated. Since the beginning of the year 2025, 16 new countries have officially joined the International Federation of Padel (FIP), which oversees the two major international circuits: the Premier Padel and Cupra FIP Tour. now 87 national federations are represented within the FIP.
Figures constantly increasing
According to recent data from the FIP Research & Analysis Department, "the number of paddle club exceeded the 23 000, against around 19 000 at the same time last year, and the number of lands in the world has crossed the threshold of 70 000 " Before 2018, there were only 7 clubs et 21 lots, concentrated at 85% in Spain and ArgentinaToday, these two countries represent 35% global infrastructure, 65% remaining being distributed in nearly 150 countries on five continents.
Number of padel players in the world is now estimated at more than 30 million, against less than 8 million in 2018. According to Carlo Ferrara, responsible for the FIP data service, the geographical distribution is as follows:
- 60% players are in Europe
- 23% en Amerique du Sud
- 7% en Central and North America
- 6,4% en Asia
- 4,3% en Africa
- 0,3% en Oceania
Around 60% of practitioners are men, but padel is also among the most popular sports among women, that represent close to 40% of the global community.
A structured global expansion
Countries with the largest number of padel courts are:
- Spain : next to 17 courts
- Italy : about 9 700
- Argentina : 7 000
The development of padel is particularly dynamic in Europe, with countries like the France and Netherlands who have exceeded the 1 courts in 2025. The United Kingdom and Germany also saw strong growth, with a combined total of 800 short. In all, Europe today counts nearly 48 plots of land, be one 170% increase since 2020.
En Amerique du Sud, in addition toArgentina and Brazil, padel is well established in Chili and Paraguay (more than 2 courts), and in full development at Peru, a Colombia and Costa Rica.
En Central and North America, Mexico lives a real padel boom, while USA, sport is now practiced in more than 30 states, with 650 short already in service.
En Africa, padel, already well established in Egypt, is developing strongly in South Africa visit us at the Morocco and Tunisia.
En Asia, sport is exploding not only in Middle-East (United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar), but also in Indonesia, a Thailand visit us at the Pakistan and even in China.
Finally, in Oceania, padel is beginning to emerge. New Zealand installed its first pitches in 2024, and theAustralia should experience real growth in the coming years, with several competitions already in preparation.
