From October 26 to November 2, 2025 , the world padel will set up camp in  Saly , on the Senegalese coast. For the first time in its history, the  International Club Cup Padel  will be held on the African continent. On this occasion, the AECP  (European Association of Clubs of Padel) went to meet  Karim Karrit , president of APS  (Association Padel Senegal), a central figure in the development of padel in Senegal.

A passionate man at the helm

 Karim Karrit , 45, is a business leader in the automotive industry, but also a sports enthusiast. “I played tennis, motorsport, triathlon for a long time… before discovering padel in 2017 in Saly. It was a revelation,” he confides. In January 2025, he took over as president of the Association Padel Senegal , succeeding  Rouda Farhat , who is now dedicated to  Dakar Padel Club .

The  APS , founded in 2016 by  Jordi Rovira , has experienced several key stages thanks to its former presidents:  Nagy Kabaz ,  Christopher Chavane  et  Rouda Farhat , each having contributed their stone to the building.

A strong and structured dynamic

Today, Senegalese padel is in full swing  structured expansion The APS unites  7 clubs , for a total of approximately  50 tracks  and more than  1 regular players including  500 licensees registered in 2025 .

Padel is rapidly becoming more popular, particularly among  jeunes  and  women , with some  senior and junior national teams , an  local competition calendar , and  introductory programs  supported.

Karim Karrit also insists on a  unifying objective  : to officially recognize padel as a discipline in its own right, through the creation of a  national federation . Discussions are underway with the  Senegalese Ministry of Sports  to legally regulate this development.

Heading for 2035: development, training and competitions

The development plan is ambitious:  reach 15 clubs and 80 tracks by 2035 , professionalize supervision with  international coaches , and  sustainably integrate Senegal  in African and international circuits. The country hopes to welcome  stages of the African Cup  or  circuit A1 Padel , in addition to its national projects.

A historic first for the African continent

The reception of the  2025 International Club Cup  is a major recognition. “It’s an exceptional opportunity to showcase Senegal on the world stage,” explains Karim Karrit. “It will be a showcase for our hospitality, our clubs, and our passion for the sport.”

The event should also  strengthen organizational know-how  premises,  attract new practitioners , and  sustainably position Senegal as a major player in African padel .

Focus: the national team

Senegal participated in the  qualifying stages of the 2024 World Cup in Kuwait  with an ambitious team. Note the presence of Omar KA , national number 3 and  Intercontinental Cup champion Padel 2019 in Dakhla (Morocco) , today a coach and ambassador of the discipline.
