The WPT has just released a statement on the changes that have taken place in its leadership. Indeed, Damm, the emblematic partner of the world circuit has decided to bring in a minority shareholder.

A new shareholder

The holding company Damm, present with the WPT for the last decade, has decided to include a minority shareholder in the World Padel Tour : Rucio Investments, . There will therefore be a new member to the board of directors: Ignacio Aguillo. Aguillo is a very important person in the world of sport, who has had positions of responsibility in sports organizations such as Atlético de Madrid or RC Lens in France, as well as in other sports clubs and leagues in Europe, Asia and North America.

Here is his vision for the WPT: “Over the past few months, we have developed a strong confidence in the overall potential of the circuit. We are very happy to be able to support a group with the strength of Damm and the WPT team, who have been able to strengthen the competition and create a platform with great appeal for fans, players and brands related to a sport with great values ​​”.

A desire to continue internationalization

Otherwise, Demetrio Carceller Arce, executive chairman of Damm, will chair the board of directors of Setpoint Events, the company that manages the Circuit. Ramón Agenjo continues to chair the World Padel Tour and Mario Hernando remains at the general management of the circuit.

What are the objectives of the management team led by Mario Hernando? There are many. First of all, increase the number of international events and strengthen player support actions. Mario Hernando tells us: ”The international growth of the circuit and the development of digital channels will be the key axes to increase the interactions between the WPT and its supporters. Indeed, they are increasingly calling for increased access to content and experiences around our events ”.
