Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto won the Santiago P1 without losing a single set... but above all without having played in the final. Initially postponed on Sunday due to weather conditions, the men's final could not ultimately be played against Stupa / Lebron, because of health problems met by Franco Stupaczuk.
Here the official press release from the circuit, published before the women's final is also suspended, this time for weather reasons :
"Premier Padel regrets to announce that the men's final of the Santiago Premier Padel P1, scheduled for today, has been cancelled due to the withdrawal of Franco Stupaczuk and Juan Lebrón for health reasons.
Franco Stupaczuk is suffering from a fever, diagnosed at the last minute today in consultation with the tournament medical team. Following this assessment, and in consultation with medical professionals, it was decided that Stupaczuk was unfit to play, and the final was canceled for health and safety reasons.
Consequently, Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto are automatically crowned champions of Santiago Premier Padel P1.
In this context, Franco Stupaczuk addressed the following message to fans:
"It really hurts me not to be able to play in the final today. I did everything I could to recover in time, but I'm not in condition to play. Thanks to the Chilean fans for all the love – I hope we'll be back soon to fight for another title."
The tournament will conclude today with the female final, who will oppose Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría to Gemma Triay and Delfina Brea, as planned at 18:30 p.m. local time. "
