In the world of professional padel, we often talk about separations and changes of partners, announcements that always generate a lot of attention. But what about the pairs that resist this trend and choose to stay together for an entire season? This choice, more discreet, is nevertheless an exception in the world circuit. With our friends from Padel Break, we tried to see more clearly.
A trend towards volatility
In 2024, doubles projects are made and unmade at record speed. Intense competitions and performance expectations often make collaborations ephemeral. Thus, completing an entire season with the same partner has become a real feat. One figure sums up this reality: Among the world's best pairs, only three teams finished the year without changing teammates.
The three pairs that held firm
Here are the few duos who managed to maintain their partnership throughout the year:
- Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello : The Argentinian-Spanish pair, dominant on the circuit, not only resisted the pressure, but also left their mark on the season.
- Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz : A collaboration marked by regularity and an obvious complementarity, which allowed them to hold on.
- Salva Oria and Nachi Sager : A discreet but solid pair, which has demonstrated that long-term stability can be a major asset. Will the Compagnolo / Sager pair at the FIP FINALS be renewed in 2025?
An increasingly rare phenomenon
With projects lasting shorter and shorter, staying together throughout the year is becoming an exception. Sanyo is one of those players who regrets that we “no longer have time to work in pairs, as was the case in a time not so long ago”.
It remains to be seen whether this stability will continue to pay off in 2025 or whether they will, in turn, follow the dynamics of volatility that seem to be becoming the norm.
