The quarterfinals have concluded at the University Padel Championships. While Eliot Deknuydt's run ended, French players remain in contention in two draws. Louise Bahurel and Clara Mansart have qualified for the semifinals of the women's tournament, while Nathan Courrin and Louise Bahurel continue their journey in the mixed doubles.
Bahurel and Mansart in the final four
Louise Bahurel and Clara Mansart continue their flawless run. The Frenchwomen dominated Ukrainian Margarita Okhendovska and her partner Tetyana Dychka Grab in two controlled sets (6/2 6/2), securing their place in the semi-finals.
The challenge is now of a completely different caliber. The French team will face the Spanish team. Laura Lujan Rodriguez (44th in the world) and Agueda Perez Ortiz (40th), the tournament's number 1 seed, for a place in the final.
Courrin and Bahurel confirm their status in mixed doubles
A few hours after her quarter-final in the women's draw, Louise Bahurel was back on the slopes alongside Nathan Courrin.
As the number 1 seeds in the mixed tournament, the French lived up to their ranking against the Poles. Nicole Borzęcka et Gabriel Biliński , by winning 7/5 6/2.
They will now have to overcome a new obstacle against the Spanish No. 3 seed, composed of Valeria Atencia Basilio (124e) and Alvaro Alone (841st), with a place in the final at stake.
End of the road for Deknuydt
However, the day marked the end of the adventure for Eliot Deknuydt.
Alongside Nathan Courrin in the men's draw, the Frenchman came very close to causing an upset against the Spanish. Alejandro Prados Davalos et Eneko Arija Ochoa de Alda After losing the first set 6/4, the French team stayed in touch before losing 7/5 in the second set.
The scenario was similar in mixed doubles. Partnered with Clara Mansart, Deknuydt saw his run end in the quarter-finals against the Spanish. Arnau Candelo Casas et Marisol Fernandez Garcia , with a score of 6/4 6/4.
Despite these two eliminations, the French delegation retains high ambitions with two pairs still in contention for a place in the final.
