Official Press Release – PPA Press Conference
Madrid, March 4, 2025. Today, the Professional Padel Association (PPA) held a press conference at The City of Racqueta at the request of professional padel players. The purpose of this meeting was to take stock of their situation and answer questions from the media present.
The conference took place in the presence of the association's management: Álex Ruiz (President), Martín Di Nenno (Vice-President), Federico Chingotto (Office Member), José Antonio García Diestro (Secretary) and José Antonio del Valle (Lawyer), accompanied by a large number of professional players and representatives of the press.
The event began with the reading of an official statement by Álex Ruiz, which highlighted several major problems:
- Un fake professional model based on broken promises.
- Un blatant conflict of interest within the International Federation of Padel (FIP), which acts as both judge and party without proper regulation.
- Personalized unilateral changes to circuit rules, without notice and in full competition.
- The imposition of disproportionate conditions to players for their participation in tournaments.
- Personalized decisions in contradiction with own rules of the FIP and Premier Padel, in particular the irregular extension of the registration deadline for P2 tournaments in Gijón and Cancún.
- The absence of a clear and official regulation governing Premier Padel.
The statement also stressed that each player remains free to choose your tournaments, without any directive from the PPA to boycott competitions. Some members of the association are also participating in the P2 tournament in Cancun.
After this statement, journalists asked several questions to the PPA representatives. Martín Di Nenno, vice-president, expressed his willingness to find solutions:
“We want this situation to be regulated because we all want to play. It’s our job and we prefer to be on the field than off it.”
Federico Chingotto stressed the relationship with the public:
“We want to be alongside the fans and return to the circuit. We take this opportunity to thank them for their support and messages of encouragement.”
José García Diestro, secretary of the PPA, said:
“We are looking to sit around a table, to dialogue and to make decisions collectively. We want to move forward together.”
