We don't stop Thomas Leygue anymore. After his very good performances at the French Championships and the World Championships in Qatar, this time he stood out again at the Cupra FIP Finals which takes place in Cagliari in Sardinia.

Thomas Leygue (214) and Ignacio Sanger (159 WPT) had already particularly distinguished themselves during 16e final (1er round) by beating the tournament seed 1 Edu Alonso (34) / Jesus Moya (26) in 3 sets. The Franco-Spanish pair confirms and reaches the quarters where they will face Garcia (59) / Duran (57).

An achievement we could not believe ...

We achieve the feat of the tournament by having an incredible match. Alonso and Moya are used to playing the final table of the World Padel Tour. And we succeed in creating the surprise. Who would have bet a coin on our success? Even we didn't believe it.

We were playing in conditions where it was very difficult to hit the ball. They doubted a lot. We made them doubt. Our tactic destabilized them by playing very slowly, close to the glass. We imposed a rhythm that did not suit them at all. They began to doubt.

We had a great match with my partner. Mentally, it is certainly one of the best matches that I have made.

Because in the 3e set, we were led 5/3 and therefore with the break against us. And finally we won 7/5 in the last set.

We confirm and head to the quarters

Today, it was necessary to confirm this performance. And we know how complicated it is. Especially since we were playing against a very good Spanish pair. And we beat her 2 sets to 0 (6/4 6/3).

I think I realized at that point one of my best games. I didn't miss a thing. My partner was less used than me. And I had to keep the house during the whole match. I made very few mistakes. I won my diagonal. This was essential to win this match in 2 sets.

Direction the quarters against players I know. They are part of the world's top 60. Here too, we will have to bring out a big match. But today with the confidence accumulated, it is certain that our opponents are aware of our performance.

The advantage in this game is that we know them, we know how to play them. While this is not their case!

The quarters should be played from 18 p.m. to follow live on the FIP Youtube channel.
