End of the adventure at NEWGIZA PREMIER PADEL P2 for Thomas Leygue et Miguel Gonzalez on a somewhat particular note, facing the recent semi-finalist pair of the FIP GOLD LYON, Pablo Lijo et Gonzalo Rubio.

Beyond the defeat in three sets against the Spanish pair (6/7, 6/3, 6/1), it is above all the palpable tension between the French number 1 Thomas Leygue and the Spanish Miguel Gonzalez which left its mark. The two players nevertheless achieved a great performance by chaining a victory in the FIP Rise en Saudi Arabia and a first round at Premier Padel from Egypt. However, it is obvious that the current does not really pass between them, and it is not the first time. We have the feeling that between them, things could degenerate at any moment, which Thomas Leygue he himself does not hide.

Thomas Leygue

Despite the respect he has for his partner — now ex-partner, since this was their second and last tournament together — Leygue admits: “You have to be blind (laughs), yes, between us, there is little exchange, it is obvious and that is the reason for our separation after these two tournaments.”

Le paddle, it's like a couple. Even if, on the field, some good matches and results have been obtained, sometimes, the current just doesn't pass. It's better to stop before the situation gets worse.

The good news for the Frenchman is that his future partner is none other than Alvaro Montiel, 107th player in the world, aged 19 and from Barcelona. Now representing Italy, Montiel is well known in France for having participated in several stages of the FIP Tour in France, including the recent FIP Rise of Bandol, which he won alongside the Italian Marco Casseta.

The pair Montiel / Leygue should officially start after the World Championships in Qatar.
