In a closely contested match from start to finish, the Franco-Argentine pair emerged victorious. 6/4 2/6 7/6 , at the end of a nail-biting third set that ended in a tie-break.
A mental victory
Preferred on paper thanks to their status as 2nd seeds, Leygue and Patiniotis had to dig deep to overcome a solid Spanish pair.
After winning the first set 6/4, they suffered a reaction from their opponents in the second set, conceding 6/2. Everything therefore came down to an extremely close third set where neither team managed to gain the upper hand.
In the decisive moments, Patiniotis' experience and Leygue's composure ultimately prevailed. The two men maintained their cool to win the tie-break and secure their place in the final.
A golden opportunity
This qualification is particularly beneficial to Thomas Leygue which had been going through a more complicated period in terms of results and confidence.
