The semi-finals gave their verdict to the tournament Jaén FIP Gold. Strong matches for the ladies, tighter matches for the men, the finals are going to be interesting!
The women's semi-finals
We first saw the beautiful victory of the pair Iglesias / Villalba. A match mastered from start to finish by these players accustomed to the final tables of WPT. They beat their opponents, Rufo / Talavan by the score of 6/2 6/4.
Then in the other semi-final it was also a straight set victory for the pair. Araujo / Navarro facing Cortilles / Castello. They reach the final thanks to a victory by the score of 6/3 6/2.
Note that for the ladies, the two pairs that will face each other today in the final were composed for the occasion!
Men's semi-finals
For the men, the games were much closer with two big matches in three sets. In the first semi-final, Fernandez Cano and Diestro had to battle hard against a solid pair from WPT Nieto / JM Diaz. Yet the latter had started well by winning the first set 6/3 but their opponents were able to make the difference in the tie-break of the second to finally win 6/4 in the third. A magnificent match in front of which we enjoyed ourselves!
In the other semi-final, the Lucas, Campagnolo and Bergamini were also forced to deliver a big performance against Rafa Mendez and Arturo Coello. Faced with a Coello in a state of grace at times, the Brazilians provided a very solid performance to win 6/4 3/6 6/4. Here again, a very intense match, with exits from the track, crazy defenses and extended points which will have delighted all spectators and televiewers!
We will therefore have a lady's final composed of Iglesias / Villalba facing Araujo / Navarro among the ladies. In the men's draw, the final will oppose Fernandez Cano / Diestro in Campagnolo / Bergamini.
The ladies will be in the spotlight and will start in the first rotation. Their match is scheduled at 10 h this morning. The men's final will take place after the women's final. To follow the matches, it's just below:
