The men's quarter-finals of the London Premier Padel P1 have delivered their verdict. The top seeds lived up to expectations, with very different scenarios: demonstrations for Coello / Tapia et Galan / Chingotto big fights for Navarro / Di Nenno et Lebrón / Augsburger .
But the match that is already attracting all the attention is that of the second semi-final: Ale Galán against Juan Lebrón , for a new chapter in a rivalry that has become one of the major storylines of the season.
Paquito and Di Nenno at the end of the fight
Paquito Navarro et Martín Di Nenno had to fight for more than two hours to rule out Eduardo Alonso et Aimar Goñi on the score of 7/5 6/7 6/3 .
After taking the lead in the first set, the fifth seed saw the Spaniards mount a comeback in the second-set tiebreak. In the deciding set, the experience of Paquito and Di Nenno ultimately proved decisive.
An important victory after their premature elimination in Pretoria, which allows them to reach their third semi-final since their reunion .
The challenge will now be immense in the face of Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia .
Coello and Tapia put an end to the beautiful story
The world number ones left no chance for Mariano Gonzalez and Curro Cabeza , beaten 6 / 1 6 / 2 .
After causing a sensation in the previous rounds, the young pair this time could not find a solution to the pace set by the world leaders.
Their tournament will nonetheless remain memorable, especially because Mariano Gonzalez , became the first Paraguayan player to reach the quarter-finals of a tournament Premier Padel.
Coello and Tapia will therefore meet again Navarro / Di Nenno , a pair they had already dominated in their previous semi-final encounters.
Galán and Chingotto were quick to react
On the other side of the picture, Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto have sent a very clear message.
Pair number 2 swept the board Momo Gonzalez and Lucas Campagnolo 6 / 1 6 / 0 in only class .
Chingotto once again locked down his diagonal, while Galán caused a lot of damage offensively. A near-perfect match that allows them to reach the semi-finals with very little energy expended.
Lebrón and Augsburger resist Nieto / Sanz
Qualification was much more complicated for Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger .
Opposed to Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz They had to go through all three sets to win. 6/3 2/6 6/3 after nearly two hours of gameplay.
After a controlled first set, Lebrón and Augsburger faced a comeback from their opponents in the second. But in the third, they regained their aggression, reasserted control of the net, and managed the important points better.
Lebrón–Galán, again
And so there you have it. Juan Lebrón et Ale Galán face to face again.
Since their split, every confrontation between the two former world number ones has taken on a special dimension. Recent events have done nothing to calm the rivalry.
À Malaga Lebrón and Augsburger had taken the lead before a very noticeable celebration by the Andalusian. A few weeks earlier at Valencia The absence of a handshake between the two men had also caused a lot of talk.
This time, the prize will be a place in the final of the very first London P1 .
On the one hand, Galan / Chingotto , impressive in the quarterfinals. On the other hand, Lebrón / Augsburger capable of turning any match around thanks to their power.
A new chapter in the rivalry Lebrón–Galán is ready to write to each other in London.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
