Young players Lou Lambert Agosti (35th) and Kimy Barla (20th) had a 2024 rich in lessons and promising results. "At the beginning of the year, we didn't play together that much," confides Lou. The two partners had decided to temporarily separate to gain experience with other players. A strategy that paid off, since their return together was accompanied by a first podium in P1000. "It was rather positive," adds Kimy.

The end of the year ended in style with good results in P1500 and P1000. We took advantage of the FIP BRONZE Mondeville at PadelShot Caen to interview the two players who are increasingly involved on the circuit.

A strong comeback for 2025

2025 is shaping up to be the year of their "real comeback" as an official pair. "Normally, we'll play together all year long," Kimy confirms. The two players are also aiming for international competition with their first tournament FIP in Caen. “We need to get ahead of this,” Lou explains, stressing the importance of gaining experience on the world stage.

Strategic and mental progress

The two partners are full of praise for their mental and technical development. "We are more patient and consistent than before," notes Lou. Mental work has been a key element in their progress. "Before, we gave up too quickly. Today, we fight until the end," admits Kimy. Although there is still a long way to go, they have clearly taken a decisive turn in terms of concentration and communication on the field. "Before, we no longer spoke to each other during certain matches. Now, it's much better."

The challenges of a women's circuit under construction

When asked about the low diversity of female pairs in competition, Lou and Kimy acknowledge a common problem in padel and tennis. "We often play the same players, but as long as we don't beat them all, there is experience to be gained," Lou says. However, they hope that the ecosystem of women's padel will continue to develop.

From tennis to padel: a saving shift
Former tennis players, Lou and Kimy found new momentum with padel. “Tennis had become a saturation point,” Kimy confides, referring to a mentality that was too harsh on the circuit. For Lou, the transition to padel was a breath of fresh air: “When you’re a couple, you don’t want to disappoint your partner. It helped me a lot mentally.”

2025 Goals: Moving Up the Ranks
For 2025, the ambitions are clear: to win their first P1000 and go even further in P1500. "We often got stuck in the quarter-finals, but now we are determined," Lou emphasizes. With renewed determination and well-defined objectives, Lou and Kimy intend to make their mark this new season.
