Native Saint-astier en Dordogne , Lucas Pillon has joined the Big Padel Jet Academy from Bordeaux to progress and train with the best french players . At 17, ranked 82th French , he hopes to make a place for himself in the professional world of padel .
In September 2024, Lucas Pillon reached a milestone in his career as paddle . After picking up his Bachelor , he decides to leave his Dordogne native to join Bordeaux and Big Padel Jet Academy created by the coach Jean-Thomas Peyrou and two players they really like: Dorian DeMeyer et Thomas Vaubance . “I discovered padel just four years ago, it's quite recent. Before, I played a racket sport, tennis,” assures Lucas Pillon. The Gironde city is a land of padel since it will host 28 June to 6 July le Bordeaux P2 of the circuit Premier Padel.
Aiming for national tournaments in 2025
In his family , everyone plays this sport: “My father, my mother and even my sister!”, he smiles. In four years of padel, at 17 years old, Lucas Pillon is ranked 82th French . For 2025, it aims for the national tournaments before aiming at the international competitions : “I plan to participate in P15000 and P2000. In 2024, my best result remains a semi-final of the P1000 Cedars. I'm starting to get used to it, but I leave often. alone by train to the weekend tournaments “It’s a pace of life to get into and not necessarily always pleasant,” he comments.
Right-handed and left-handed player
For now, Lucas Pillon is looking forward to playing Bordeaux where he rubs shoulders with the best French players: “I train with Maxime Joris, Nicolas Rouanet and Dorian De Meyer”. Right-handed , the Bordeaux player enjoys playing left while not having any constraints to position himself on the right. “I am rather an aggressive player who wants to finish on the volley. It is much harder to defend while managing the windows.” He does not have a fixed partner, but Lucas Pillon often plays with his friend Arthaud Dumoulin , aged 19, ranked 87th French .
Intense training
In January 2025, Lucas Pillon just stopped his biology degree , and is fully focused on padel. “I haven't found my career path yet. I'm focused on padel and I'm thinking about going back to school next September.” He alternates between 1h30 to 3h padel in the morning and twice a week during 1:30 am , he works with his fitness trainer .
A sports fan, he watches the tennis with as idol Roger Federer . “Dominic Thiem also impressed me with his one-handed backhand.” However, for the moment, he watches very few matches of paddle . On the football side, since his childhood, he has followed the Girondins of Bordeaux “This year, the fact that they were relegated to N2 (4th division, editor’s note) hurts,” he notes.
Direction Le Mans
When asked if he has succeeded in making his friends want to get into paddle , the answer is yes: “I have a lot of friends from high school who loved it and they quickly took out their license to hold tournaments”. For his part, the competitions arrive quickly. On February 14, Lucas Pillon travels to Le Mans for the P1000 UrbanPadel then at home, on February 21, the P1500 4Padel is organized in Bordeaux.
Passionate about soccer and tennis since I was a kid, I've been playing ping-pong for three years at a club in Nantes. More recently, I discovered padel! Basketball, rugby, golf, and motorsports: yet more new sports that I follow regularly. On the cultural side, since I love giving my opinion, I write film and video game reviews on my Instagram page, Silence ça Mix.
