Luciano “Lucho” Capra , a well-known Argentinian player of professional padel circuit , has been going through a difficult time since his right meniscus injury early May. After a promising start to the season alongside Juanlu Esbri , the Argentinian left-hander was forced to put his career on hold. But the latest news is encouraging: Capra is back on the track , even if the path to the competition still a long time left.
A brutal halt in Riyadh
The turning point of his season came during the Premier Padel from Riyadh , in the round of 16 against the pair Coello / Tapia . Capra injured his knee in the middle of a match. The verdict came quickly: right meniscus tear .
In an interview with the media Twenty Ten, I fight Capra Explain :
“There are two ways to operate on the meniscus: either you remove part of it for a quick recovery, or you sew it back on, which requires a longer rehabilitation period. We were thinking of going for the first option, but once in the operating room, the doctors decided to sew it back on.”
This surgical choice, while guaranteeing better long-term protection, has considerably extended his convalescence.
A long and demanding rehabilitation
Since his surgery , Capra follows a daily rehabilitation , sometimes slow and frustrating. He recently confided:
“There are days when I can bend my knee a little more, or repeat an exercise I didn't do the previous week. The progress is made day by day.”
Still on crutches until recently, the primary objective was not even to play again, but simply to walk normally again .
“Sometimes you wake up and think, 'I wish I could walk normally, get back on the field.'”
The desire remains intact
Despite the absence of competition , Capra remains very active on his social networks. At the end of May, he shared a symbolic publication, reflecting his determination :
“A brief summary of a morning of training:
1 – You start with a lot of desire
2 – You see what’s coming and you switch to focus mode (and you wear a nice @x3portres t-shirt)
3 – You grit your teeth for the last effort
4 – Training finished, one day closer to the goal”
A positive message, like a player who never gives up despite adversity.
The joy of getting back on track
And then, finally, an image that puts a smile back on the faces of his supporters: Capra returned to the padel court .
A few days ago, he simply published:
“The happiness of being on the new track”
(The joy of being back on the field)
A strong symbol. It is still only a gradual recovery , but it is a decisive step towards a back in shape .
What's next for Capra this season?
Currently ranked around the 37th place worldwide ( FIP ranking ), I fight Capra could find the personalised tour by the end of the year, provided that its recuperation continues without complication. The duo he forms with Juanlu Esbri has not yet delivered its full potential, and fans hope to see them back in action on the slopes soon Premier Padel .
Conclusion
Luciano Capra is undoubtedly facing one of the biggest challenges of his career. But with his perseverance, his mental strength, and the support of his community, everything suggests he will return. Not just to play again… but to reconquer the summits of world padel .
