Luigi Carraro was elected president of the International Federation of Padel  unanimously at the FIP 2021 General Assembly which took place this morning in Rome, for the next Olympic period, i.e. for a period of 4 years.

No surprises

This is obviously not a surprise for anyone as Luigi Carraro was ahead of his only competitor: Alfredo Garbisu.
As reported 6 days ago, Luigi Carraro positioned himself as the ultra favorite of these elections against the former president of the Spanish Federation of Padel (FEP): Garbisu.

During our last interview, Alfredo Garbisu already knew he was beaten by the “FIP machinery".

The FEP also moved from the FEPA camp to the FIP. Invaluable support for FIP.

We have repeatedly tried to interview the president of the FIP to take stock of his policy and his detractors, without success. He has not yet responded positively to our requests.

A positive result with “but”

Luigi Carraro's record is both interesting with the establishment of the FIP Tour, even if he benefits from an exceptional world situation, and never seen before.

We could also talk about the merger between the FIP and the World Padel Tour (WPT), even if some voices want to denounce “behind the scenes with mainly “political” reasons to counter the development desires of Monte Carlo International Sports, the APT Padel Tour and the European Federation of padel”As the President of MCIS, Fabrice Pastor reminded us.

The least are certainly the inconsistencies, the battles of the FIP against certain organizations such as the FEPA (European Federation of Padel), the shame of these two European Championships padel on the same dates in 2019. A situation that could renew this year...

With the operation of seduction of the FIP towards the FFT, perhaps we could see a window and see France playing the intermediaries to push all the parties to sit around a table and avoid these championships of shame. The future will tell.
