It's the most beautiful setting possible for an interview. On the carpet of Court Philippe Chatrier , Padel Magazine interviews the president of the FIP and gets exclusive answers from Luigi Carraro.
Girls will join us this year
Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: This event is incredible, but in my opinion one half is missing: the women's draw. Where are the negotiations?
Luigi Carraro: “This tournament was fantastic but with the girls it would have been much better. I think the time has come to make decisions. They didn't play 3 tournaments which would have been very important for them. It's a shame for us but also for them. I am more optimistic than before because the last meetings have been very productive and concrete. I am confident to say that women will join us in the next few months.
Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Will the girls arrive on Premier Padel this season ?
Luigi Carraro: "Yes it's sure ! The players know that this circuit is open to them at every tournament. All the organizers want the women's draw, Premier Padel and the fans too! The male players are also so invested in this project that they help us. It is a symbol of unity that we send back.”
Qualifications in the UK
Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Despite several applications, the FIP finally decided to award the World Cup to Doha for the second time in a row. This announcement may surprise.
Luigi Carraro: “We received 3 applications: Valencia, Dubai and Doha. After analyzing mainly the sporting part, the FIP board voted for Doha. We remember that the players loved the event.
“We also have new things that we will announce in the coming weeks, which will allow us to tell the world that this sport and this competition are very valuable. These announcements will appeal to players and fans.”
Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: The final phase in Doha, but where will the qualifications be played?
Luigi Carraro: “The World Championships will start in September with the 3 major qualifications. In Punta del Este in Uruguay for America, in Egypt for the Asia-Pacific/Africa committee, in the United Kingdom for Europe. We are very happy because 20 European countries will play this qualification.”

The operation of Premier Padel
Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Fans Don't Completely Understand Who Belongs To Premier Padel. Can you make things clear?
Luigi Carraro: "This project has 3 parties developing it: the FIP, QSI, and the players' association. The circuit belongs to the FIP. The commercial exploitation of the circuit needed a partner, because it is necessary to be realistic: only, the FIP did not have the economic power to make this circuit. FIP was lucky to find QSI, as it is not just the business partner. QSI allowed the FIP and the players' association to be associated on the commercial part. This means that the FIP also has a percentage of the profits of this circuit.
Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Is it 33,3% for each shareholder?
Luigi Carraro: “You are asking me questions that are confidential information. We might say it, but I prefer all 3 parties to say it together.”
