Interview with Luigi Carraro, President of the International Federation of Padel

  • Is the FIP working on the JO file?

My program as a candidate to become president of the FIP was to integrate the padel at the Olympic games. Today, the member nations of the International Federation of Padel elected me. And this subject is one of the priorities of the International Federation. We believe in it because this sport lives on for hours that it had never lived before.

  • For the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, was it possible?

For the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020, we could not reasonably propose the padel to the Olympic committees because the international padel were not ready, although some work had been done in this direction.

I remind you that I was appointed to my post at the end of 2018 and that the IOC issued its verdict in December 2018.

On the other hand, given the evolution of padel and its internalization, a very important concept for the IOC, the Paris Olympics seem to come at the right time.

For Paris is an ambition that seems much more achievable and that is the goal of the FIP.
