After having already eliminated Tolito Aguirre and Álex Chozas in the first round, the Argentinian and the Spaniard,  Maxi Maple  et  Pablo Lijó , achieved a small feat by eliminating the number 5 seeds,  Paquito Navarro and Lucas Bergamini , in two sets (6/4 6/4). A victory which propels them into  quarter-finals , where the ultimate challenge now awaits them: the world number 1s  Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia .

Coello/Tapia solid in key moments

Against the Ruiz brothers, the circuit leaders once again showed their mental strength, winning the first set tie-break before winning in two sets (7/6 6/4). Without dominating as much as at the start of the season, they continue to move forward and aim for a  fifth consecutive title .

The favorites are present

Behind them,  Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto (TS2)  didn't hang around, dismissing Diestro/Esbrí in less than an hour (6/1 6/2). For their part,  Franco Stupaczuk and Juan Lebrón (TS3)  outclassed Belluati/Garrido (6/1 6/0) and could well meet Galán/Chingotto in the semi-finals. Their next opponents will be respectively  Di Nenno/Augsburger (TS7)  et  Momo González/Jon Sanz (TS6) .

Finally, the last quarter-final promises to be explosive between  Coki Nieto/Mike Yanguas (TS4)  et  Javi Leal/Fran Guerrero The latter won against Tello/Cardona after a tough battle (4/6 7/6 6/4). The tie-break remains one of their weapons: out of 14 contested this season, they have only lost one. This confrontation will already be the fifth clash between the two duos in six tournaments, proof of a budding rivalry.

The new Brea/Triay queens without mercy

In the women's table, the day was marked by the spectacular entry of the new world number 1s,  Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay , victorious 6/0 6/0 in just 40 minutes against Barrera/Caparrós.  Paula Josemaría and Ari Sánchez (TS2)  also mastered their subject against Caldera/Goenaga (6/4 6/2).

The hierarchy was respected for  Bea González and Claudia Fernández (6/2 6/2 against Martínez/Collombon) , just like for  Araújo/Ustero (TS4) , winners 7/5 7/5 against Guinart/Iglesias. They will find themselves in quarters  Carolina Orsi and Martina Fassio , Castelló/Rufo scorers (6/3 6/3).

Ortega/Icardo eliminated, Velasco/Eugenio surprise

The main surprise came from the elimination of  Marta Ortega and Tamara Icardo , beaten by the young  Jimena Velasco and Raquel Eugenio , only 17 years old, who continue their magnificent journey (7/5 6/4).

Eight matches are scheduled for Friday on the center court of the  Movistar Arena  with increasingly crowded stands.
