The surprises keep coming  Madrid P1 After several unexpected results since the start of the week, two more seeded players have been eliminated in the round of 16:  Franco Stupaczuk / Jon Sanz (TS4)  et  Momo González / Lucas Campagnolo (TS8) .

Direct consequence: a pair located much lower in the hierarchy will be present in the last four.

Jiménez / Arroyo make Stupa / Sanz fall

This is the big upset of these round of 16 matches.  José Jiménez / Álex Arroyo, seeded 14 eliminated  Franco Stupaczuk / Jon Sanz ,  7 / 6 6 / 4 .

A real setback for the new Spanish-Argentine pair, who nevertheless arrived in Madrid full of confidence. For their first tournament together last week,  Stupa and Sanz had won the FIP Gold in Belgrade without losing a single set .

The return on Premier Padel is much more complicated. From their first big test in Madrid, they leave the tournament and leave part of the draw completely open.

For  Jiménez / Arroyo On the contrary, it's a huge opportunity: after knocking out the 4th seed, they can now seriously look towards the semi-finals.

Jofre / Bautista surprise González / Campagnolo

Because in the same part of the table,  Íñigo Jofre / Jairo Bautista  they too created a surprise in the face of  Momo González / Lucas Campagnolo .

The third seed wins  7/5 6/3 in 1h15 , in a perfectly controlled match. Jofre and Bautista notably won  54% of the match points , compared to 46% for their opponents, and converted  50% of their break points , compared to only 29% for Momo / Campagnolo.

The pair were particularly more effective on serve, winning  62% of his points were scored behind his first attempt. , compared to 56% on the other side.

Another disappointment, then, for  González / Campagnolo eliminated in the round of 16 despite a real opportunity existing in that part of the draw.

A TS14 or TS15 player will be in the semi-finals.

These two results completely change the picture.  Jiménez / Arroyo (TS14) and Jofre / Bautista (TS15) will now face off for a place in the semi-finals .

In other words, Madrid will inevitably  a pair ranked 14th or 15th seed in the final four .

On the other side of this half of the bracket, the winner of this quarter-final could then find  Galán / Chingotto or Paquito Navarro / Di Nenno  in the semifinals.

Madrid is certainly confirming its tendency to pull off surprises. Even before the quarter-finals,  Three of the top eight male seeds have already been eliminated: Stupaczuk / Sanz (TS4), Leal / Guerrero (TS7) and González / Campagnolo (TS8) .

A section of the draw that many imagined to be locked down by the favorites is now wide open.
