Spain's Ale Galán may not have been at his best yesterday, in the P1 in Madrid. The numbers confirm it: he signed his worst final of the year 2024. If Coello praises Tapia's exceptional debut, it is unlikely that Chingotto will say the same about Galán on this final.
Thanks to our friends at Padel Intelligence and Sales Diez, we were able to obtain a very clear statement of his finals in 2024 between winning points (winners) and direct errors (unforced errors).
- Puerto Cabello (Venezuela) : 32 winners, 18 unforced errors
- Brussels, Belgium) : 23 winners, 18 unforced errors
- Asuncion, Paraguay) : 40 winners, 12 unforced errors
- Mar del Plata (Argentina) : 36 winners, 13 unforced errors
- Santiago (Chile) : 26 winners, 9 unforced errors
- Rome (Italy) : 30 winners, 15 unforced errors
- Genoa (Italy) : 21 winners, 0 unforced errors
- Malaga (Spain) : 15 winners, 11 unforced errors
- Madrid (Spain) : 18 winners, 21 unforced errors
Several trends can be identified in Galán's performances against the Tapia-Coello pair in the finals played:
À Madrid, he almost recorded his lowest number of winners (18) and his highest number of unforced errors (21). This match at the WiZink Center can be seen as a poor performance compared to his usual standards. This is the tournament where he had the most difficulty being effective against the Tapia-Coello pair. Since Malaga, we observe a narrow winners / unforced errors ratio.
Galán's performances also seem to be influenced by the location and playing conditions. For example, he excels in South America, with solid performances at Assumption et Mar del Plata man. Conversely, its performance in Europe seems more irregular, particularly in Madrid, Malaga et Brussels, where he had difficulty maintaining a high level.
