Since their final in Mar Del Plata last May, Delfi Brea et Bea Gonzalez had not participated in a single final on the circuit Premier Padel. Bea's injury having played a big role in the pair's results over the past four months.
However, in the semi-final of Madrid P1, the world number 2 managed to get rid of their opponents of the day, Marta Ortega et Sofia Araujo, in two sets: 7/6(6) 6/1.
A match that could have ended short for the seeded 4, Araujo / Ortega. The duo was led 5/1 in the first set and managed to close the gap to push the Spanish-Argentine pair to the tie-breaker. The remontada was not rewarded since, at the end of the suspense, Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez ended up winning it.
The second set was a formality for Brea/Gonzalez. The pair rolled out on the central court of the Wizink Center, inflicting a 6/1. This time, Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo were unable to repeat their feat of the first set, despite numerous breakback opportunities.
Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez therefore qualify for the final of the Madrid P1. They will meet Gemma Triay et Claudia fernandez, who imposed themselves earlier against the world number 1s.
The day is not over in Madrid as there is still a men's semi-final to go. Ale Galan et Federico Chingotto (TS2) will face the surprise of the last four: Juan Lu Esbri / Lucas Bergamini.
It was her brother who one day told her to accompany him to a padel court, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the retransmission of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
