Clara Mansart et Cyrine Hamrouni achieved a great weekend by winning the Women's P1000 of the Ball In D'or in Dreux. The pair created a surprise in the final by beating the competition favorites , Alexise Duchêne and Charlyne Tonda , seeded number 1.
Although the final pitted the two highest ranked pairs in the tournament against each other, the outcome was a real surprise with the victory of the number 2 seed.
A controlled course until the final
Clara Mansart looks back on this memorable tournament:
“We passed our first round against Teston / Godin 6/1 6/4. Then, we faced Romane Dehaine and Loan Boudon in the quarter-finals, we played a serious match to win 1/4 6/2. In the semi-final, we faced Terminet / Lochon, and there again, we won 6/2 6/2 with a match giving us confidence.”
A solid run that justified their status as number 2 seed, but the final looked more complicated against Duchêne and Tonda .

A stunning finale
“We lost the first set 6/1, I really wasn't in it and Alex and Charlyne missed very little. Cyrine knew how to persevere to bring out the best in my game, she, very solid from the beginning to the end of the match! We adjusted and put in place an effective strategy: lob Charlyne a lot and take the net as soon as possible. Cyrine did an excellent job defending diagonally, which really bothered Charlyne, while I finished the points on the volley when I could. We had to show a lot of patience to succeed in winning the second set 7/5.
Then, we were able to stay strong in the third set to win 6/2 (magnificent chiquita at the end from Cyrine on match point). From the end of the first set and the start of the second, our game came together and we delivered one of our best matches to go and get this P1000 title.”

A victory which confirms the complementarity and solidity of the pair Mansart/Hamrouni , now to be followed in the next events of the women's circuit.
