The French Tennis Federation has proposed a massive support and recovery plan for the ecosystem of French tennis and associated disciplines adopted and operational from June 3.

The FFT Executive Committee adopted the terms of the support and recovery plan for the entire ecosystem of French tennis and associated disciplines, which had been voted on April 10. This massive plan worth 35 million euros, in which the leagues and departmental committees participate, is thus aimed at actors faced with serious economic difficulties following the health crisis.

A complete system is in place for the different families:

  • Affiliated clubs will benefit from aid of 21 million euros. They will thus be accompanied by immediate support measures but also by stimulus measures to encourage the resumption of activity.

  • Aid of 5 million euros will be devoted to teachers and independent coaches, who cannot benefit from the partial activity schemes to which salaried teachers can claim.

  • Finally, a budget of 9 million euros will be earmarked for the professional circuit in favor of:
    • International tournaments on the ATP, WTA, Tennis Europe and ITF circuits (juniors, professionals, seniors, Padel, beach tennis and wheelchair tennis) organized in France, which had to postpone or cancel their competition due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
    • Officials of the FFT, referees and referees of international and national tournaments whose main activity is refereeing.
    • Tennis players from the professional circuit (excluding the world top 100) and associated disciplines (padel, beach tennis and wheelchair tennis). This aid may be allocated to players who do not benefit from international aid mechanisms, or it would complement it.

In addition, the FFT, as organizer of Roland-Garros, contributed, like the other Grand Slams, up to 1 million euros to the international aid fund for players classified between the 101rd place and the 500rd places WTA and ATP rankings.

The amounts of these envelopes are based on estimates. The final amounts of these envelopes will be adjusted in the light of the needs expressed and validated. The plan will be implemented from June 3, 2020 and will run until August 31, 2021

A digital platform has been specially designed for entering and processing requests from different French tennis families and will be accessible from June 3 via the url: relance.fft.fr

This platform will link, in real time, the various players in the decision-making chain (committees, leagues and federation) and the beneficiaries so that the implementation of the plan is as agile as possible. Depending on the family, the conditions of eligibility, the deadlines for entering requests, supporting documents will be specified.

« The FFT wishes, through this system, provide support to all French players in tennis and related disciplines affected by this unprecedented crisis. Thanks to the establishment of this fund, which complements the mechanisms of the State, the regions and the International Authorities, we hope to be able to help them overcome this very difficult period ”, explains Bernard Giudicelli, President of the French Tennis Federation.
