It was to be expected : Max Forcin and Benjamin Tison confirmed their status as favourites by dominating Cancel and Coulombeau en semi-final of FFT Padel Tour à Mind Padel. A victory 6 / 2 6 / 4 which opens the doors to the final, where they will face Timéo Fonteny and Yoan Boronad. At the microphone of Mario Cordero, the two players looked back on their journey and their feelings before the final stage of the tournament.
A controlled semi-final
Benjamin Tison : “We were very solid, we played a very good match. We started the game well. Alexis Coulombon plays very well, I've played him twice in two weeks and he hardly misses anything. But with Max, we complemented each other well and we were able to impose our game. Logically, we won 6/2 6/4 by playing a serious match.”
Max Forcin, undefeated with his partner, savors this collaboration: “I like to play fast, and I found someone who plays even faster than me! We adapt, we complement each other well, so everything is green for us.”
A complementary duo
Asked about the difference between Dylan Guichard, with whom he had disputed the French Championships, and Benjamin Tison, Max Forcin Explain : “Dylan is bigger, he plays well in defense. Ben plays faster, he breaks the lines. They are two different styles of play, so it's up to me to adapt to exploit my qualities with each one.”
Specific playing conditions
If their qualification for the final is acquired, the playing conditions are not necessarily to their advantage, as explained Brand : “I would prefer the ball to come out less, because Timéo is difficult to lob. In my vision of padel, it's not really padel: you can hardly lob, everyone sticks to the net. But hey, it's the same for everyone, you have to adapt.”
His partner shares a similar observation: “If it’s slow, I can play my game, but here, I have to hit it faster. It’s not my strength to get the ball out, so that suits me a little. On the other hand, we see less of a spectacle.”
A future without an international circuit
While his passage to the FFT is coming to an end, Benjamin Tison confirmed that he would not return to the international circuit: “I will play with Max a few FIP tournaments, but that will not be my main goal.”
To Max Forcin, the final of P2000 of Spirit Padel will be a first. Brand, he has already won severals: 6 P2000 and this is his 10th final.
The duo hope to continue their unbeaten run and secure a new title. Answer after the final.
