After his defeat in the semi-final of the FIP Bronze Mondeville alongside the Spaniard Adria Mercadal against the tournament's number 1 seed, Maxime Forcin looks back on his match and shares his impressions. Between lucid analysis and a touch of humor, at the microphone of Loïc Delmas, the 13th French player talks about his performances and his experience during this Normandy tournament.

Five games on my serve and none won

What are your first impressions now?
First impression: I found my limits. I played against a player in my diagonal who lobs better than the others. He masters the lob with a lot of height and precision, he hits hard and loads his shots well. Against that, my blocked backhand, which is usually my best weapon, was not enough. He took away this solution from me, and it made the exchanges much more complicated.

Even above the head, you often seemed to be in difficulty. Physically, did you feel the difference? Physically, no problem. I can play at this level for a long time. But technically, I still lack aggression and intensity. My serve was not efficient enough, which allowed him to quickly take the lead with impeccable lobs. Result: five games on my serve and none won. The stat hurts! (Laughs)

The first set was very close, with a set point in your favor. Did you believe it? Absolutely. Both teams were on a knife edge. Even if we were broken, we managed to unbreak immediately. That showed that we were in the match. Unfortunately, they were able to take the lead at the right time. With a set in hand, they relaxed and raised their level, especially in the Adria diagonal. The gap widened, and we were unable to come back.

Does this experience make you want to participate in more FIP tournaments?
Yes, it clearly shows me what I need to work on. However, you have to juggle between professional life, family life and tournaments, which is not easy. But these matches are enriching, and I hope to be able to do more to improve.

A Bronze FIP that leaves its mark

It was the first FIP organized in Normandy, and in your club PadelShot. How did you find the atmosphere? It was exceptional. Playing in front of such a crowd is incredible. In tennis, I've played in front of more people, but never with such an electrifying atmosphere. Here, everyone knows me, the world of padel is still small in Calvados. Being a "local" makes the experience even more unique.

An organization that lives up to expectations? Yes, everything was great. Getting so many people to come from Wednesday to Sunday is a huge challenge. And for a first edition, it was a total success. On Friday alone, in the quarter-finals, there were 300 people around the field. Today, we're talking about 1300 tickets sold and the same for tomorrow. We couldn't have dreamed of a better start to this tournament.

Thanks for your time, Maxime. Will we see you in the stands tomorrow? Of course, I will be there to see the end of the tournament. But before that, I will go behind the white line to work on my intensity at the basket in " Bandeja "That's where I was most embarrassed, so it has to change!
