Among the first announcements of the French Senior Championships 2025, one pair particularly attracts attention: Maxime Joris will team up with Julien Seurin from September 19 to 21… in an unexpected configuration.

Maxime Joris on the left: a surprising choice

Known as one of the best French at the right post, Maxime Joris will evolve this time… to the left, leaving the right side to the left-handed Julien Seurin. A choice that may seem surprising, but which is not entirely unprecedented. Joris has already tried the experience on the FIP circuit, notably at the FIP Promotion Lustica Bay in 2024 alongside Dylan Guichard, also left-handed. Together, they reached the semi-finals, notably beating Arthur Hugounenq and Philemon Raichman.

A rich… and promising past

On the last French Championships, Joris had finished 9th alongside Raichman, while Julien Seurin climbed onto the podium with Adrien Maigret (3rd place). The previous year, Seurin had also finished 3rd, this time with Manuel Vives, and Joris 5th alongside Maxime Forcin.

An interesting complementarity

Although he is more often associated with a defensive role on the right side, Maxime Joris has a very good smash, and has already shown in the past his ability to create surprises when he switches sides with his partner. An instinctive player, he is capable of strokes of genius when he expresses himself in attack.

A more favorable draw

Thanks to their good individual ranking, the Joris/Seurin pair is normally assured of being among the top eight seeds, which will guarantee them a draw that is a priori more favorable in the early rounds. A significant advantage in a tough championship.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
