The two French women still in the running in this Mexico Major played late into the night, looking for a qualification for the last 16. Only one managed to qualify for the rest of the competition. Here are the results:
Successful start for Collombon / Martinez
In the first meeting, Alix Collombon et Araceli Martinez entered the tournament, having been exempted from the first round. A first match, not necessarily easy, awaited them, against Julieta Bidahorria (Alix's former partner) and Marta Talavan.
In the end, it's a match all in control offered by the Franco-Spanish pair who knew how to maneuver their match from one end to the other. A victory in two sets for the 16th seed of this Mexico Major: 6 / 3 6 / 1.
Next match: Marta Barrera De La Fuente and Marta Caparros Maldonado, victorious over Patty Llaguno and Lucia Sainz.
Marchetti / Godallier, one set away from the feat
The second French woman present was none other than Léa Godallier, the French number 2, always associated with Giorgia Marchetti. For their second match of the tournament, a battle awaited them against Alejandra Alonso et Andrea Ustero, in search of the Master Final in December.
However, it was the Franco-Italian pair who won the first set 6/4, making their opponents tremble. Despite their young age, Ustero and Alonso were able to showgreat maturity to come back into this match and leave no chance in the second and third sets to Léa and Giorgia.
Final score: 4/6 6/2 6/1.
It was her brother who one day told her to accompany him to a padel court, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the retransmission of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
