Dorian De Meyer is one of the French players in form at the moment with his partner Thomas Vanbauce. The Bordelais recently started international tournaments, Dorian explains to us.

We are going international

I am very happy with our journey at the FIP Rise in London. It was our second FIP after the Star de Trani.

We managed to get out of the qualifying jungle with three wins including the seeded 2 in qualifying. (Editor's note. Olle Andersson and Joritt Notenboom)

This is the first step for us, because we are embarking on the international circuit. These are the premises of our September project which is starting.

At the beginning of the school year, we will have finished our studies, we decided to give ourselves a chance on the FIP circuit by keeping our structure of always, namely our club Big Padel, our JT coach (we are also followed by a mental and physical trainer).

Join the world top 100

The idea being to enter the 100 best in the world within two years with, we hope, at least one selection for the French team by then.

To know that we are the only pair to have touched a racket of padel for the first time together, and since then we have only evolved together, without ever separating...

From unranked to top 10 in 4 years, as a team, this is our greatest strength.

The next tournament will be Marville P1000, to prepare the Canet's FIP Rise.

London, a good experience

Defeat in London against Blanque / Jimenez with a great match: 6/4 6/3, after a good fight.

The Spaniard is very strong and Blanqué knew how to be solid in the important moments.

No regrets for us and back to work to work on our weaknesses.

The P1000 is over

We're going to stop the P1000s except for the ones next to the house.

It's no secret, but today international tournaments for the best French players have taken precedence over French tournaments.

The P1000s no longer really interest the best. There is a dispersion that means that if you want to go further, you have to go abroad to hope to be part of the France team.

The French ranking, no longer a priority

The French ranking is therefore no longer really a priority since it is the world ranking that counts to enter the French team.

We can clearly see that with the boom in padel, there were paradoxically more players, more good players of padel, but the multitude of tournaments padel causes the average level of competitions to drop. The top players are diluted, which is proof of the boom in padel. But this forces players who have national and international ambitions to go to international events and compete with the best.

Pablo Ayma thinks of us

For the moment, we have not yet really had any discussions with the new coach. I know he has us in mind, we went to train with him in Barcelona, they like us.

He likes the fact that we are really a close-knit team, which has never moved while being very complementary. In a way, we copy Tello/Chingotto to the letter.

But overall, we don't even know if we're going to be taken to the France team internship, we haven't had a clear exchange for next September. So being part of Team France this year is going to be too early I think. We are not yet on the level. If we want to get closer to the best, we have to go international.
