Le  P1 Miami  delivered its first lessons with several challenging encounters and a few surprises. If  Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz  Having secured their place in the round of 16, the Spanish pair struggled much more than expected. Meanwhile,  Sanyo Gutierrez and Gonzalo Alfonso  continue to ride an excellent wave of momentum, while  Paquito Navarro and Fran Guerrero  They manage to pull it off without being convincing. The big sensation comes from the  seeded 8 ,  Bergamini / Garrido  eliminated as soon as they entered the competition.

The day was also marked by the unexpected fall of  Juan Tello and Edu Alonso , the controlled entry of the number ones  Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia , and the return to the track for  paul cardona , after many months of absence.

Nieto and Sanz are managing but are still searching for their rhythm

Facing  Enzo Jensen and Luis Hernandez ,  Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz  They had to work hard to reach the round of 16. The Spanish pair were sometimes pushed to the limit but ultimately achieved their main objective: to continue their journey in Miami.

However, their padel is still far from the level that characterized their previous partnership. Since the start of the season, the results have been inconsistent: a semi-final in  Gijón  but an elimination in the first round  Cancún .

In Miami, they hope to return to their expected level. Their next challenge looks daunting as they will face  Sanyo Gutierrez and Gonzalo Alfonso , an association that arrives with a lot of confidence.

Garrido and Bergamini still in trouble

The American tour is not reassuring either.  Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini After their elimination at  Cancún  face  Sanyo Gutierrez and Gonzalo Alfonso The Spanish-Brazilian pair disappointed once again in Miami. Facing  Mario del Castillo and Ignacio Vilariño Two players ranked outside the world's top 50 were soundly defeated in two sets.  6-4, 6-3  , in barely an hour of gameplay.

Sanyo and Alfonso are in the starting lineup… despite a spectacular injury to Gonza

The Argentinian pair are going through one of their best periods. For their last tournaments together,  Sanyo Gutierrez and Gonzalo Alfonso  seem determined to end on a high note.

For their opening match in Miami, they dominated  Lucho Capra and Víctor Ruiz  in two solid sets, 7/5, 6/4 to reach the round of 16.

The match was nonetheless marked by an impressive moment. While attempting to retrieve a ball at the back of the court,  Gonzalo Alfonso  His head hit the side window violently. The Argentinian had to receive  seven stitches  before returning to the field with his head bandaged to finish the match.

This scene perfectly illustrates his state of mind. He also took to social media to reassure his fans:

"Seven points and a qualification for the round of 16 of this Premier PadelA difficult moment, a lot of pain, but happy to be able to continue for another lap no matter what. Thank you to everyone who was worried about me. There's no more worry, only pain. Vamos arriba.

Navarro and Guerrero pass... without convincing.

Another Spanish qualification, that of  Paquito Navarro and Fran Guerrero , winners of  Maxi Arce and Pablo Lijó  in two sets, 6/3, 7/6.

Success is there, but the feeling isn't quite there yet. Paquito Navarro admitted as much frankly after the match:

"We got through it. It's always better than playing well and losing. The feeling isn't good because they're coming in playing at a very high level. We held on. We're lacking that feeling, but we won, and that's what we needed. Now we have to get back to our game and find that good feeling again."

On the court, the pair sometimes appeared disorganized, committing several unforced errors and displaying a somewhat disjointed style of play. Despite this, they managed to make the difference in crucial moments.

In the round of 16, Navarro and Guerrero will face  Íñigo Jofre and Manu Castaño , fallers of  Pablo Cardona and Javi Leal .

Argentine Agus Gutiérrez delivered a remarkable performance and even had a set point in the second set. But  Lebrón and Augsburger  negotiated the key moments better, notably thanks to a clear superiority in the smash (27 winning points against 9).
