Passing through Madrid, the Portuguese player of theAPT Padel Tour speaks at the microphone of “Desde dentro del padel TV ”from Padel Spain, to tell the inside story of the new international circuit.

“Young people seek to be professionals”

“I am very happy with Babolat. I'm here in Madrid for a shoot. I like how they treated me. I also want to thank Monte Carlo International Sport. This company is really focused on padel, and doing an awesome job in America. More and more young people from different countries are now looking to be professionals. ”

“Being able to choose what to play”

“I think the APT is doing very well now, and that in a few years it will be considered the benchmark circuit. There are different circuits, different federations. For example in golf there are several rounds, and it is the players who choose the tournaments they play. There isn't that “if you play one you can't play the other”. The most important thing is that the player can be professional and really make a living. ”

“Next year I hope that we will be out of covid, and the APT Padel Tour is going to be spectacular, with 6 to 8 weeks in South America. ”

Think about the secondary players

“The secondary players of which I am a part, who play the tournament qualifiers, the previas in another circuit, play to make the semi-finals on the APT. For many players who fight in previas, they only play once in a real room, on a field where you can go out, where there is streaming. A player needs visibility for the sponsors, and needs to have fun playing under conditions that are not in the pre-previas or previas. ”

“In my case, it was difficult to continue playing a circuit where I was not making money. I saw it as an opportunity to play in different countries, but above all a circuit in which you can be free. The most important thing is to have freedom. In the padel current, everything is done for the best. If we support the second line players a little better so that they can train, we will achieve this globalization of the padel. The tables should have more than just Spaniards, Argentines and two or three Brazilians, and the APT is the circuit that most wants to do it. ”
