When for his Milan P1, an unusual sequence has set social networks alight: mike yanguas was seen giving a hip thrust against the grid in the middle of an exchange, during his match with Coki Nieto face Pol Hernández et William Collado.
An action that seemed harmless at the time, but which quickly sparked a controversy online, some accusing the Andalusian player of having wanted move the window to help his partner's lob fall back into the court.

A simple explanation… and no cheating

In the podcast “Ganarlared”, Yanguas wanted to clarify the situation:

"We were playing in Milan, where the ball was going out a lot. Coki hit a cross-court lob, and I thought Guille Collado was going to play it. So I moved closer to the gate to avoid getting hit. When he let it go through, I gave the gate a little kick to get going faster and block the ball backhand."

The Spanish, currently No. 7 worldwide, assures that he had not no intention of manipulating the game :

“It made me laugh because everyone made up their own story. Some people said I wanted to move the glass so the lob would go in… but it's a grid, not a glass wall! It really wasn't my idea. I just wanted to propel myself to cover the middle.”

A buzz that goes beyond the field

The matter grew so big that Yanguas was flooded with messages after the match:

“Friends, footballers… everyone sent me the video!” he said, smiling.

But for him, the real regret stays elsewhere: despite this viral scene, the pair Nieto/Yanguas, seeded No. 4, has inclined from the second round (6/3 3/6 6/3), leaving Milan earlier than expected.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
