Le Premier Padel P1 Milan recorded an unprecedented event today with the longest match in the history of the circuit, a marathon meeting of 4 hours and 39 seconds. This is the pair Marina lobo (48) / Sofia Saiz Vallejo (42) who won against Virginia Riera (17) / Marta Borrero (53) after a three-set battle: 6/7(2) 6/3 7/6(5).
If Riera and Borrero won the first set in a tie-break, Lobo and Saiz Vallejo recovered in the second set before concluding their performance with a decisive tie-break in the third set. The Spanish were able to be more solid in key moments, particularly thanks to their ability to manage long exchanges well.
The slow playing conditions in Milan, combined with the players' style of play focused on building points, but also a level of play between the two pairs that was almost similar, considerably lengthened the duration of the rallies, contributing to this longevity record. This patient style, characteristic of women's padel, offered a marathon match.
Lobo and Saiz, victorious, will have a lot to do in the next round since they should play the seed 2 namely Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
