The start of the 2026 season on the circuit  Premier Padel  draws up an original scenario.
Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia , ultra-dominant since 2023, are going through a different period. Fewer titles, more close matches… but still that constant presence at the top.

Results are down… but consistency remains.

With  2 titles in 5 tournaments  (Riyadh and Cancun), their record is the weakest since their association.
A stark contrast with:

  •  2023  : 5/5 titles
  •  2024 and 2025  : 3/5 titles

But one detail changes everything:
they are  present in the final at each tournament .

Even in a less favorable context, they remain.

 Coello solid, Tapia more inconsistent

On the ground, the dynamic is clear.
Coello  remains the pillar of the pair: dominant at the net, decisive in key moments, consistent.

On the other side,  Wall  is going through a more irregular period.
Still capable of brilliant moves, but less influential over time.

Less consistent, sometimes more discreet… far from the ultra-dominant version that made all the difference.

Rivals who are no longer afraid

But the explanation doesn't come from them alone.
The circuit has changed.

The opponents have improved, adjusted their game… and above all  lost the inferiority complex .

Result:
longer, more closely contested matches, where they used to play out more smoothly.

Galán / Chingotto have reached a milestone

The pair  Galan / Chingotto  This change perfectly embodies it.
Three titles this season and a real ability to compete.

As their coach points out  Jorge Martínez  :

“It’s not a question of a gap, but of real competition between two very high-level projects.”

The race to the  Volume 1  is now open.

Lebrón / Augsburger, the unpredictable factor

To this battle is added a third pair:  Lebrón / Augsburger .

Their victory in Brussels against the number 1 teams is not insignificant.
When they are confident, they can beat anyone.

Less regular, but capable of changing everything.

A throne more contested than ever

La  Race 2026  This confirms it: the gap is narrowing and  Galan / Chingotto  are in front.
Victories are evenly matched, confrontations become open.

 A rather relative “crisis”

To speak of a crisis would be an exaggeration.
Their “less than good” level remains one that many would like to reach.

But perceptions are changing.
They no longer dominate with the same ease.

Be careful when you wake up

And that is perhaps the most dangerous thing.

Because if  Tapia regains his consistency  and  Coello is at his best. ,
The situation could quickly change again.

For now, one thing is certain:
The global padel scene has never been so open.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
