Always appreciated for his good humor and his authenticity, Momo González is one of the most endearing faces on the circuit Premier Padel. Accompanied this season by Jon sanz, the Andalusian has had a string of good results with two consecutive quarter-finals. Before challenging Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas In Doha, Momo spoke without filter to the microphone of The little one Padel.
“It wasn’t a padel match”
In extreme windy conditions, Momo and Jon made it through to the eighth round, beating Patiniotis and GalaBut for him, this match is not a reference:
“There were no good or bad feelings. What we experienced wasn't padel. It was a real wave of madness. We just had to adapt and survive.”
The pair relied on patience and lucidity to avoid losing their nerve:
“We managed by telling ourselves that we shouldn't get upset. We just wanted to get one more ball on the other end.”
A new adventure with Jon Sanz
After a good passage with Eduardo Alonso, Momo chose to try a new project:
“With Edu, we had found a good game plan, but we were perhaps missing that little something extra to beat the top teams. Jon can give me what I was missing. It wasn't easy to tell Edu this, but I still have a great friend.”
Despite the pressure felt by the Majors, Momo believes that his duo is progressing:
“We started the year well. In Miami, the quarterbacks freed us up. If we keep this up, we can aim even higher.”
“Padel needs more indoor tournaments”
Momo does not hide his frustration with the weather conditions:
“I am at 100% for indoor tournaments, especially for the Majors. Padel is about precision. The wind and the sun are too detrimental to the level of play.”
And what about the famous golden point question?
“Personally, I prefer the advantage. But I understand that the golden point is more spectacular for the public.”

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
