The latest annual report of Playtomic is full of interesting figures on the expansion of padel. Among these statistics, one of them, on the forecasts of court construction, shows that France is a driving force in the development of padel.
Indeed, compared to forecasts for 2022, this is the only country to have exceeded estimates for 2023. Moreover, in 2023, France had crossed the symbolic bar of 2.000 tracks on the territory !
All other countries, among the 11 most important in the sport, failed to achieve the hopes placed on them. France, with 673 new courts, finalized 199 more tracks than expected.
The United States dominates in relative
If they only built 274 new courts, the United States is the country with the largest relative increase. American players thus benefited from 152% more land in 2023 compared to 2022.
Two other countries known for their dynamic growth follow them: Germany with 122% additional land and the United Kingdom with 95% increase. Although these countries are still far behind the behemoths in terms of number of fields, these exponential increases give good hope of see hang up the lead car.
The leaders always far ahead
For its part, Spain “only” built 826 courts in 2023, however, it brings its total to 16 courts in the country. Thus, the deficit of 1 constructions compared to forecasts does not detract from its position as absolute world leader.
As for Italy, despite slightly lower growth, it has built 577 courts out of the 650 planned and remains firmly clinging to its second place in the world, with almost four times as many courts as France.
