Defeated in Asunción The world ranking leaders are starting to see their pursuers close the gap significantly, not necessarily in terms of rankings but in terms of performance. While their seasons remain statistically impressive, the current dynamics tell a different story: that of a circuit more open than ever.

Among both women and men, certainties are wavering.

Triay and Brea keep reaching the finals… without managing to clinch the title.

Finalists at  P2 of Asuncion ,  Gemma Triay  et  Delfi Brea  have once again fallen victim to  Paula Josemaría  et  Bea González who seem to have found the right formula in the big events.

The observation is stark: the players coached by  Seba Nerone  have just lost their fourth consecutive final against the same pair.

However, it's difficult to call it a failure given their consistency. Triay and Brea have reached the  last eleven finals  contested on the circuit. But with only  two titles won A slight feeling of frustration inevitably begins to appear around a pair that had put so much energy into establishing themselves at the top in 2025.

Their mental strength remains a benchmark on the circuit. Despite this difficult run, they continue to be present in the semi-finals every week and remain fully committed to the fight for the world number one ranking.

Coello and Tapia less dominant than usual

The parallel with the situation of  Arturo Coello  et  Agustín Tapia .

The world's number ones also continue to impress with their consistency, boasting an incredible run of  21 consecutive finals  disputed. Figures that the majority of pairs would sign without hesitation.

But for a duo used to crushing the competition, the reading changes quickly.

Since the start of the season, the “Golden Boys” have only won  two of the six tournaments  played. Even more worrying: their last three defeats have come against direct rivals, notably  Chingotto / Galan  et  Lebrón / Augsburger .

The feeling of invincibility that surrounded the Spanish-Argentine pair seems a little less obvious today.

A denser circuit, smaller gaps

This start to the season mainly confirms a trend: the level is getting much closer at the top of world padel.

Behind the leaders, several associations have taken a significant step forward and now compete confidently against the top teams. Each week, the pressure mounts on the number ones, who are forced to defend their status in a far more competitive environment than before.

It remains to be seen whether the current leaders will manage to regain control… or whether this 2026 season will mark a real change of balance on the circuit.
