Padel Magazine This was your first time participating in FIP Promises Paris. How did you experience this discovery?

Ornella Beltramino:  Yes, it was my first time in Paris. Ever since I was little, I've wanted to discover this city. We weren't able to come last year, so I'm really very happy to have finally had the opportunity to participate in the tournament this season.

Padel Magazine Can you introduce yourself to the French readers?

Ornella Beltramino:  My name is Ornella Beltramino. I play in many FIP Promises tournaments. I was born in Miami, but I now split my time between Miami and Alicante, where I train regularly.

Padel Magazine : How did you discover padel?

Ornella Beltramino:  My parents opened the UK's first padel club, AB Sports Club, in 2009. I wasn't even born at that time.

I grew up on the slopes with a racket in my hands. Initially, I mainly played tennis, but I no longer really enjoyed competing.

I then decided to try padel to see if I could rediscover that enjoyment. From my very first training sessions, I loved the sport and everything started from there.

Padel Magazine You were once world number 1 in the junior category. What does that ranking mean to you?

Ornella Beltramino:  It's a huge source of pride. Becoming world number 1 is an incredible achievement.

This rewards all the work put in and gives me even more motivation to continue to progress.

Padel Magazine Today, you train in several countries. What aspects of your game do you work on the most?

Ornella Beltramino:  I'm working on all aspects of my game. I think I still need to improve in every area.

I am coached by Claudio Gilardoni, who is one of the best coaches in the world. He is the one who guides me daily in my progress.

Padel Magazine What do you do when you're not on a padel court?

Ornella Beltramino:  I spend a lot of time on the field, but I also have other interests.

Right now, I'm trying to learn a new language: Italian. I already speak English and Spanish, and since I have an Italian passport, I'd like to master that language as well.

Padel Magazine You are one of the most promising players of your generation. What are your goals for the coming years?

Ornella Beltramino:  My long-term goal is very clear: I want to become number 1 in the world on the professional circuit.

Padel Magazine Do you see yourself progressing on the circuit one day? Premier Padel ?

Ornella Beltramino:  Yes, of course. It's a dream and I'm going to work every day to try and achieve it.

Padel Magazine If you could play a match against the best players in the world, what would your ideal matchup be?

Ornella Beltramino:  I would like to play with Paula Josemaría against Bea González and Andrea Ustero.

That would be an incredible match.

Padel Magazine Which player inspires you the most?

Ornella Beltramino:  My favorite player is Bea González.

I love her playing style. She's very aggressive, she moves around the court a lot, and I really like the energy she gives off during matches.

Padel Magazine If you compete in a World Championship, will it be with the United States?

Ornella Beltramino:  Yes, I will represent the United States.

I think padel is developing a lot there. More and more young people are arriving and I'm convinced that, in a few years, we'll have a team capable of competing with nations like Spain or Sweden.

Padel Magazine Before the tournament, you competed in the U14 and U16 categories. What were your objectives this week?

Ornella Beltramino:  I wanted to try to win both categories.

That was my goal when I arrived in Paris.
