The female painting of  Premier Padel Malaga P1  had many surprises in store. For the first time in the history of the women's circuit Premier Padel,  neither of the top two seeds reached the semi-finals . Exit Josemaría / Sánchez and Triay / Brea: room for an unprecedented confrontation between two pairs who are gaining strength.

 A first for Ortega and Icardo 

The pair formed by  Marta Ortega and Tamara Icardo  dispute his  first semi-final  on the circuit Premier Padel. In just  three tournaments together , they have already found a good balance, with a solidity that was revealed against the world number 1s (victory 4/6 6/3 6/2 against Josemaría/Sánchez).

It's the  best result  of their short association to date. Ortega, a quarter-finalist here in Malaga last year, is making a remarkable return to the Andalusian court. For Icardo, absent in 2024, this is a notable first appearance at this tournament.

 Jensen and Alonso confirm 

Opposite,  Claudia Jensen and Alejandra Alonso , seeded 7, continue their good momentum. They sign their  second semi-final in three tournaments played together , after Bordeaux where they had been forced to abandon.

The young Spanish-Argentine duo is gaining momentum with each outing. Jensen, already a quarter-finalist here in 2024, seems at ease in Malaga. Alonso, eliminated in the first round last year, is making significant progress.

 Crossed stories between the players 

This match will also be the occasion for symbolic reunions:

  •  Icardo and Jensen  were partners between 2024 and 2025. Together, they reached a semi-final on the circuit Premier Padel and won a Platinum title.
  •  Ortega and Alonso  have also played three tournaments together this season (Asunción, Buenos Aires and the Italy Major), with two quarter-finals to their name.

Suffice to say that the players know each other well... even if it is  the first time  that these two pairs confront each other.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
