Argentinians are celebrating today. After the victory of Sanyo/Sanchez, Belasteguin/Tello managed to overcome the trap match in the round of 4 against Barahona/Zapata in three sets (6/6 3/6 2/XNUMX). The old ones are still there!

The highlight comes just after this victory where we see Bela and Pato together…

You may not have seen it, or not necessarily understood, if you followed this round of 16 live, but the player from Pehuajó had in the audience someone very close to his debut: PATO ESTRUCH.

Pato, Bela's first coach, must face a very serious illness: Charcot's disease. When the student and the coach got closer, there was enormous emotion, perhaps without words, but which meant “thank you for everything” from Bela. Was it a form of goodbye?

Carlos Martín, nicknamed Pato, was the one who discovered Bela at the age of 10 and was his first coach.

In Pehuajó, the coach is a reference in padel and hundreds of players have passed through his hands. That’s why the overwhelming support and affection came as no surprise when he was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).

Bela: “He taught me not only to be a player on the field, but also off it: he took care of himself all his life, he doesn't smoke, he doesn't like alcohol, he loves to train. I integrated all that and, if I became someone in sport, it was thanks to a lot of things that Pato gave me.”

On January 6, 2023, the Argentinian returned to his first known trainer when he was only 10 years old... Almost 35 years later, the nickname Pato is still there to try to help him continue the adventure as much as possible. high level :

“Today was special training. In addition to Seba, who helps me these days, Teby Lafón (director of Bela Padelcenter Alicante) and Pato Estruch, my first teacher, were able to come. I'm very grateful that they came and gave their feedback to continue improving my aerial game (Smash). It was great to have them by my side and listen to them to continue learning. THANK YOU SO MUCH !"
