We were waiting for it, and we got it: the final between the Top seed Charles Gortzounian / Yann Auradou and seeded 2 Clément Filho / Eliot DeknuydtAnd that's right. Filho / Deknuydt who have gained the upper hand, 7 / 6 6 / 1.

A first set with a knife

The first set lived up to all expectations. All four players displayed a very high level of play, with few errors and a lot of intensity.
But in the tie-breaker very tense, it is the Filho / Deknuydt pair who make the difference at 6/6.

The second set was a one-sided affair.

After losing the first set by a hair, Filho and Deknuydt are increasing their intensity even further..
Clément Filho, in particular, increases the pace in the diagonal, multiplying the winning points (45 in total against 42 for TS1).

Opposite, Charles Gortzounian is gradually declining, While Yann AuradouDespite a good level of play, it cannot reverse the momentum.

Direct errors illustrate the shift:

  • 25 unforced errors for Gortzounian / Auradou,
  • Against 30 for Filho / Deknuydt, but compensated by more control on the important points.
  • 3 break points won out of 5 for TS2,
  • Against only 1 out of 9 for Gortzounian / Auradou.

A lack of realism that proved fatal to the TS1.

A perfectly controlled end to the tournament

The duo Filho / Deknuydt concludes a near-perfect weekend.
After a difficult quarter-final against Ben Lallahom / Dammak (victory in 3 sets), they then accelerated:

  • Semi final : 7/6 6/1 vs Grodenic / Fantou
  • Final: 7/6 6/1 vs TS1

They thus win their first P1000 together of the season.

The TS1 is too inaccurate in key moments

Gortzounian and Auradou had a great tournament, but the final eluded them due to:

  • a tie-break that was narrowly missed,
  • a lack of realism on break points.

They nevertheless lived up to their status all the way to the final.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
