Saturday, May 3, the supporters came in large numbers to encourage the players in the P1000 Urban quarter-finalsPadel Carquefou. Including Patrice Rousset, a 59-year-old computer scientist who plays padel several times a week in this private structure located east of Nantes.
15 p.m., the men's quarter-finals begin atUrbanPadel from Carquefou. Patrice Rousset, sitting in the front row, is blown away by the level of play: “You really realize the impact of a smash at this level. They are very good players.”
Tennis enthusiast
Patrice Rousset is a fervent supporter of padel but also a padel player. Aged 59, this former Parisian who arrived in Nantes in 2014, plays this racket sport for 6 years now. “I discovered padel at Sporting in Saint-Herblain and then I often went to Smash Goal (near the Beaujoire stadium, editor’s note) and to Vertou.”
But since he discovered the UrbanPadel in Carquefou, the padel enthusiast comes to play here twice a week: “Before, I used to travel a bit to go and play padel and I would get stuck in traffic. Having a facility near my home is great.”
The joy of playing padel
Before starting padel, Patrice Rousset played for a long time to tennis and golf“I enjoyed playing doubles tennis, I wish I had discovered padel earlier. I think I would have played only padel my whole life,” he says.
An IT specialist at Orange, he also benefits from being able to practice between work colleagues. “We often have tournaments organized in our company.” For his part, Patrice Rousset participates in P100, equivalent to a level 5/6. “I'm left-handed, so I play on the right. I love attacking and doing viboras.”

Passionate about soccer and tennis since I was a kid, I've been playing ping-pong for three years at a club in Nantes. More recently, I discovered padel! Basketball, rugby, golf, and motorsports: yet more new sports that I follow regularly. On the cultural side, since I love giving my opinion, I write film and video game reviews on my Instagram page, Silence ça Mix.
