A brilliant entry into the final
Journalist Adrien, Yann, congratulations on this match. You played a fantastic game. How did you feel on the court?
Yann Auradou : Very very good! Honestly, giving them two and three... that's what we really were “on fire”. Well, at first, I had a little trouble getting going, I was a little tired. But Adrien played so well that I let myself go... and after that, I think I played very well too.
Three matches in the legs… useful!
Journalist : You had three matches under your belt. Did that weigh on you or did you feel good this morning?
Adrien Maigret : Honestly, on the contrary, it did me good! These three matches allowed me to get into rhythm, trust, to play under pressure again. The first two were very tough mentally, with outdoor conditions that we don't often have in Paris. But it made me step up. Last night in the quarterfinals, we played really well. And this morning, Yann did everything he could to make sure I played well, so I had a great time.
I've been getting my body back on track for a month and a half, with a view to selection in the French team for July. This kind of match clearly helps me in this dynamic.
A well-oiled tactic against Seux / Courrin
Journalist : You seemed to be really bothering Nathan Courrin with some very high lobs and a very aggressive Adrien on the volley. Was that planned?
Yann : Exactly! We were instructed to very high and very long lobeWe were lucky: not too much wind, so it was doable. We often aimed for the center and we saw that it put them in difficulty. And above all, we wanted to be very aggressive on the flyI think they haven't found a solution to this.
Adrien : We spent a lot of time at the net, and in these outdoor conditions, that's often the key. If you're precise with your lobs, you can gain the upper hand. Yann alternated very well between a tight lob and a lofted lob, which allowed me to be in my comfort zone.
An impressive ratio
Journalist : You had an excellent winning point to unforced error ratio, with +13 or +14 for you, Adrien. Are you ready for the final?
Adrien : It's encouraging, yes. It proves that we were effective. Now we wait to see what the other semi-final will bring.
The wish for a duel at the top
Journalist : And if you had the choice, who would you prefer to play?
Adrien and Yann : Really want to play Max and Ben.
An expected final
Journalist : Yann, this will be your second P2000 final… and 100% success so far?
Yann : Exactly. Second final, one victory so far, we hope to add a second!
Adrien : This will be my ninth P2000 final. I'm at 5 wins – 3 lossesWe'll try to balance that out.
Journalist : Does your partner's record put a little pressure on you for this final?
Yann : No, not at all. We are here for have fun and play our game.
