After their defeat in the first round of the P2000 Casa Padel, Cyril Hanouna et Miguel Semmler look back on their match against a solid pair from the French circuit: Clement Filho et Dimitri Huet.
The opportunity for the two players, Hanouna and Semmler, to look back on the match, but also the work carried out beforehand by Cyril Hanouna to continue his adventure in the French top 100.
“To succeed in maintaining this intensity”
Cyril Hanouna : After the objective of the Top 100, now it's time to work on the level of play. It's true that I work a lot with Jerome Inzerillo Every week, we try to help each other out. It was a very intense match. The first set especially, I felt really good. We had several break points, especially at 3-3 and 4-4, but we weren't able to capitalize on them. Physically, it was tough, because all the points were long. But overall, I'm happy with our level of play.
Afterwards, the problem is that you have to manage to maintain this intensity over two sets. Then Dimitri et Clement, they are players that I know well, they are extremely solid. All the points, you have to go and get them, and physically, it was hard because the points were very long. At one point, it was a bit difficult, and I have a bit of regret about the first set, because we had a lot of chances. But hey, Miguel helps me a lot in defense, which allows me to concentrate on the attack, so it's a joy.
“We had opportunities”
Miguel Semmler : We trained well together yesterday, and today I knew Cyril was going to play well. The first set was very good, even I was surprised by his level. We had our chances, including a break point, but it was decided on small details. Our tactic was to focus a little more on defense, and Cyril had to attack more to do more damage. I'm very happy.
The difference between Cyril Hanouna today and a year ago…
Miguel Semmler : He has progressed enormously. He works hard and loves padel. Today, he is much more solid, he makes very few mistakes, he is capable of playing long points. He has also improved his aerial game, with curlers, trays. Every time I see him, I find him better and I am very happy with his progress.
Cyril Hanouna : Yes, he's right. Now I feel much better on the left, in defense and in attack. I feel more comfortable, but physically it's harder, and I still have to work to last over time.
On the right, I feel a little lost. With Teo, I play on the right because the pair is stronger when he is on the left. But as they tell me Jérôme [Inzerillo] and John [Le Gall] from Casa padel, I should no longer play on the right, except with Teo. On the left, I feel much better, both in defense and attack, it's more natural for me. I'm more comfortable on the left, but physically, it's more demanding. I still have to work on that. You have to be able to maintain a good level of play throughout a match.
“I train a lot more during the week”
Cyril Hanouna : Yes, that's why I do fewer tournaments, because I train a lot more during the week. But now, I'm going to start playing tournaments again. I have another tournament next week near Caen un P1000 (editor’s note: La Pommeraie). I’m going to play with it Boris Castro Garcia, and there he will probably play on the right. On the left, I feel better, so we will try that.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
